Itinerary
Day 1
Upon arrival at Thessaloniki Airport, transfer to your hotel in the heart of this lively port city. After settling in, enjoy some free time exploring Thessaloniki at your own pace. Take a walk along the vibrant promenade, enjoy views of the Thermaic Gulf, or relax in one of the city’s charming cafes. The Ladadika district offers a unique blend of traditional shops, boutiques, and cozy eateries where you can enjoy authentic Greek hospitality and local flavors.
Day 2
Breakfast and embark on a city tour of Thessaloniki. Thessaloniki is the Capital of Northern Greece and the second largest city of Greece, a city that drifts in time from classical antiquity to modern days, preserving centuries of history till modern days through architecture, gastronomy, local people and archaeological monuments. Among the 15 UNESCO heritage sites in the city, seize the opportunity to find more about the most important of them through this tour.
Firstly, we will head to the upper town the so called “Ano Poli” and observe the impressive byzantine walls that once used to be approximately 4km in length and 10-12 meters in height surrounding and protecting the city inhabitants from invaders. Moving on, you will spot the traditional architecture by visiting the Paleochristian church of Saint Demetrios, the patron saint of the city and its catacombs.
Heading to the heart of the city center, you will learn about the Roman period by admiring the beautiful Monument of Rotunda and the famous Arch of Galerius. We will finish our tour by the sea with the landmark of the city, the White Tower and the statue of Alexander the Great King of Macedonia. During our walk we will pass through Kapani Local Market (the oldest public market of Thessaloniki), a place full of flavors and aromas of the fresh ingredients of the local cuisine, we will have the opportunity to taste some of them and feel like a local Greek. After a day filled with sightseeing, continue your exploration with a relaxing afternoon by the sea. Head to Thessaloniki’s beautiful waterfront for a leisurely lunch at one of the seaside tavernas or restaurants, where you can enjoy a range of local and Mediterranean dishes with a view of the Aegean.
As the evening approaches, take a scenic stroll along the New Waterfront, a popular area with landscaped gardens, modern art installations, and panoramic views of the sea. You’ll encounter a variety of atmospheric spots, like the Umbrellas sculpture, which is particularly captivating at night. Day 3
Spend your day in Thessaloniki at your own pace, discovering the city’s lively neighborhoods, stylish boutiques, and charming cafes. Start with some shopping at Tsimiski Street, where you’ll find a mix of local and international stores, from high-end brands to unique, independent shops. Explore the Modiano and Kapani Markets nearby, which offer a vibrant mix of local products, from spices and fresh produce to handmade crafts, providing a great sense of the city’s bustling daily life.
In the evening, head to the Ladadika district, known for its lively ambiance and vibrant atmosphere. This area, with its colorful buildings and cobblestone streets, is filled with traditional and modern eateries. Enjoy a leisurely dinner, sampling some of Thessaloniki’s delicious local dishes in one of the tavernas and soak up the lively vibe of this beloved neighborhood.
Day 4
After enjoying a delicious breakfast at your hotel, you will be transferred to Ioannina, a picturesque city located on the shores of Lake Pamvotis. As you arrive, take in the stunning views of the lake and the surrounding mountains, setting the stage for a relaxing day ahead.
Once settled, you have the entire day free to explore Ioannina at your own pace. You might choose to wander through the charming streets of the old town, where you can admire the unique architecture and discover local shops and cafes. Stroll along the lakeside promenade, soaking in the serene atmosphere, or visit one of the many traditional coffee shops to savor a cup of Greek coffee. Day 5
Start your day with a warm and hearty breakfast at the hotel, preparing you for a day of exploration in the breathtaking winter landscapes of Zagori. After breakfast, you'll set off on a scenic tour of this remarkable region, renowned for its traditional stone villages and stunning natural beauty, particularly when blanketed in snow.
As you journey through Zagori, you'll visit charming villages like Papingo and Mikro Papingo, where the winter scenery creates a postcard-perfect setting.
